What I love best about the resources offered by the Delaware County Library system is that they work on over one dozen different types of Ebook readers. The Ebooks also work on about a dozen different Smartphone cell phones. Even if you don't own an Ebook or a SmartPhone, you can download MP3 audio books to play from your home PC, laptop or MP3 player. No matter what piece of equipment you own, you can utilize these free resources.
The Delaware County Library System of Delaware County, PA offers many early reader, chapter books and teen books in Ebook format. I've noticed that there are a ton of audio books - both in WMA and MP3 format that are geared towards the preschool age. One of our favorite downloads has been an audio recording of Aesop's fairy tales. When took my infant son to the Dr's office the other day, and I was able to set my Nook up to play the audio recording - so my daughter had something to entertain her during the doctor's visit. The library system offers classic authors like Beverly Cleary, but also contains more modern choices as Candice Bushnell's teen books. As of right now, the library system doesn't seem to offer many children's picture books. The closest thing I have found to those is early reader chapter books with the occasional image on every few pages. I hope the library increases their collection to include these items as I think they would be very valuable.
I strongly suggest you check out the many free and easy to download resources from the Delaware County PA library system. If you need help figuring out all of the technological details, they have a helpful frequently asked questions section here: http://digitallibrary.delcolibraries.org/03912C4F-B4FC-4137-98DA-832615D39F16/10/451/en/Help.htm

Post a CommentThanks for the promotion. We haven't bought too man picture books because most of the ebook readers are black and white and the picture books really need color. I'll pass along your suggestion to our children's book buyer. David, DCLS director
