Delaware County PA Summer Festival at Rose Tree Park

Free Summer Concerts at the Park

S.B.
Are you looking for something fun to do on a hot summer night after the sun goes down? Would you like to do something that would provide entertainment and relaxation for the whole family? Are you looking for something the family can do for fun that is free? If so, you need to check out the Summer Festival located at Rose Tree Park in Media, PA!

The Summer Festival is a totally free concert series sponsored by local businesses and Delaware County Council. Through the support of the businesses, they are able to book excellent entertainment and put on these concerts free of charge. If there is bad weather, the concerts do get cancelled and they do not get rescheduled. If you are concerned that a concert may be cancelled, you can call this number to check: 610-565-7410

The concerts start each night at 7:30PM at Rose Tree Park which is located at 252 and Rose Tree Road in Media, PA. I would suggest arriving at least a half an hour early to secure a good spot on the lawn and find parking. Depending on the popularity of the performers, the park can be pretty crowded. You'll want to bring a blanket to sit on, or folding chairs. Also, it's a good idea to pack some sunscreen as it can be sunny for a little while as the sun is setting for the evening. Since you are outdoors, bug spray is another good idea to keep your family comfortable. When you arrive, you just find a spot on the lawn and enjoy the show. If you have young children you may want to sit near the back if they do not like loud noise.

As for food and beverages, they have two snack stands that sell drinks and snacks for reasonable rates. You can also back your own food. I've seen many families carry in a box of pizza and have dinner at the concert, or pack a picnic dinner. The only thing that is not permitted is alcoholic beverages. The concert staff will check your bags and coolers to ensure you are not brining any alcohol in. One of the other rules is that you may not have pets or smoke near the concert stage. They basically just want all of the families to have a nice time and not have any disruptions.

My family and I have seen jazz acts, rock & roll cover bands and even a kid's comedy show at the Park this summer. Each concert is unique and has enabled us to enjoy the arts and the outdoors for free! I highly recommend checking out the Summer Concert Series. You can see the full 2010 schedule here.
