Her Name is Nicole is a Solid Album, But will the Masses Ever Hear It?

Nicole Scherzinger is best known as being the lead Pussycat of the musical group The Pussycat Dolls. Before joining that group, however, Nicole was a member of the short-lived girl group Eden's Crush. On her debut solo album, Her Name Is Nicole, Nicole finally gets to break free from the shackles of her group. However, it has recently been revealed that Her Name Is Nicole will be shelved indefinitely. Did Her Name Is Nicole live up to its now-epic reputation?

The first single off of Her Name Is Nicole is the dance track Whatever U Like featuring rapper T.I. The single was produced by mega producer Polow Da Don and written by Sean Garrett. The track was originally destined for Chilli of TLC fame but Nicole ended up with it. The song is a solid up-tempo club song which did not take off as well as the label expected it to. The song features a very strong verse from T.I. and added vocals from Sean Garrett.

The second single is the Will.I.Am produced Baby Love. The song also features a verse from Will.I.Am. The song is a solid mid-tempo track and has a similar vibe to Beyonce's Irreplaceable.

On the Mad Scientist produced track Super Villain, Nicole croons over a very intricate and different sounding beat. The song talks about Nicole needing a bad boy. The song is catchy especially the hook. The song is definitely one of the most interesting conceptually and overall on the album.

Happily Never After is a beautiful ballad which showcases Nicole's vocal ability. The song is extremely catchy and easy on the ears. The song is one of the strongest tracks on the album. The song features background vocals from R&B crooner Ne-Yo.

Who's Gonna Love You is another up-tempo track produced by The Mad Scientist. The song is catchy and very well produced. The Mad Scientist and Nicole Scherzinger tracks are easily the strongest on the album.

Power's Out is a very solid mid-tempo track. On the song Nicole is joined by international superstar Sting. The song features Nicole singing over a minimalist track joined by Sting. The song is catchy and has single potential.

Physical teams Nicole with Nate "Danjahandz" Hill and Timbaland. The song is fairly catchy and captures the magic of a Timbaland collaboration. The song is extremely commercial and radio friendly.

On the Akon-produced Puakenikeni, Nicole is joined with Akon's artists Brick & Lace. The song is nothing special and just a filler track on the album. The beat however is much stronger than the lyrics.

Her Name Is Nicole is a fairly solid album overall and all of the delays seem completely unwarranted. If the completed album ever sees the commercial light of day, the public will be in for a treat. Her Name Is Nicole gets 7.5 out of 10. It is just too bad Nicole never got the chance to shine as a solo superstar.
