Delicious Wheat Pasta Steak Recipe

Keep Them Coming Back for More!

Stephen S
A great way to live a healthy lifestyle is to make the switch from using white pasta to using the healthier alternative in wheat pasta. Wheat pasta provides more fiber as well as possessing an overall better taste. Most people think that wheat pasta doesn't look as appetizing as white pasta, but this is mostly based on people not wanting to try something different. Personally, I don't mind the small color change, because it helps to know that what I'm eating will be better for me in the long run. If you are interested in using wheat pasta, it is great for anything such as family get-togethers or a romantic evening with your significant other. Below is a recipe that is quick and simple to make, and will provide not only a healthy low-calorie alternative to basic white pasta, but will make anyone who eats it come back for more.

Ingredients:

1 chopped onion

1 chopped green pepper

1 chopped red pepper

1 chopped jalapeno pepper

1 bundle of broccoli

16 oz sirloin steak (you can use chicken, but steak tastes better)

1 pound wheat pasta (any shape will do)

Olive Oil

Italian Dressing

Step 1: Take the steak, and cut it first into thin strips, and then cut those strips in half so that you have little pieces of steak. If you're concerned about calories and fat, then you may want to trim off the fat on the steak before you begin to cut it. This will reduce the amount of calories in an already low calorie dish. Place these pieces into a bowl of Italian dressing while you chop up the onion, peppers, and broccoli.

Step 2: Boil 2 quarts of water in a large pot. Add a half handful of salt, and a little bit of olive oil. This will help avoid the pasta sticking to the sides when its done, as well as add a little bit of flavor to the mix. Add the pasta to the pot, while stirring occasionally.

Step 3: Take out a large pan for stir frying, and coat the bottom of the pan with olive oil. Turn the stove to medium high heat, and add the uncooked steak to the pan. Fry the steak until it is well done(or to whatever done-ness you desire, well done is better in this case). Remove steak from the pan and place aside in a small bowl, covering it with aluminum foil to keep it somewhat warm.

Step 4: Wash the pan briefly with water. This will remove any excess grease and fat from the pan, and allow you to start cooking the vegetables. Coat the bottom once again with olive oil, and add all vegetables to the pan. Cook these until they are done to your liking(usually only takes 3-4 minutes).

Step 5: Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, and top with Italian dressing.

Step 6: Enjoy!
