Delightful Dishes from Daughter

5 Bizarre Breakfast Dishes from a 5 Year Old

Some people eat the same basic breakfast every day. I enjoy oatmeal, or bacon and eggs. I have a brother who would eat mayonnaise sandwiches for breakfast. Nothing can compare to what my little sunshine comes up with in the kitchen. Here is a list of 5 concoctions that she eats for breakfast..

The first time that I asked my daughter what she wanted for breakfast, I was in trouble. The reply was quick. Usually she takes between 10 to 30 minutes to decide. She instantly replied that she wanted a corn dog, yogurt, and orange juice. I countered with a pancake offer. No, her mind was made up. The corn dog went in the microwave for a minute, and the yogurt and orange juice came out of the fridge. She takes the batter off the corn dog. She feeds that to one of her pet dogs. Then the hot dog on a stick, gets dipped in yogurt. This is after the ketchup squeeze bottle has been crushed. I figure at least the orange juice was healthy. She would eat corn dogs every day if I let her..

Waffles made the breakfast fabulous five. Lots of kids eat waffles for breakfast. It's the way she eats the waffles that is different. The waffles have peanut butter on one side, apple sauce on the other. The logic was simple. The waffle has two sides, might as well use them both. At least she's using her imagination. Eventually she will have her own show on the Cooking Channel. For now, I get all the secret recipes.

Tomato soup always makes the menu. When my little one opens the cupboard to hunt something down, the soup gets the call. The cereal gets bypassed. Don't want french toast, that might be normal. The tomato soup made up a few of my daughter's breakfasts. One memorable soup breakfast had the soup, served with broccoli and cauliflower. She put the request in the night before. I figured by morning she would forget. Not a chance.

Number four on the menu is the smiley face omelet. The omelet can consist of anything, as long as she can put a smiley face on it. The faces have been made with cherries, strawberries, and even chocolate kisses. After Halloween, candy corn was used to put the face on the eggs. If it has a face, it tastes better. I'm getting stomach cramps just writing about it.

The last breakfast on the list was the most recent. It inspired this article. A day ago my 5 year old, who watches the Cooking Channel more than Disney, put in this order. [ Daddy, I want a beef pot pie, with a side of bologna, and another piece of bologna for the dog. And I'll wash it down with a big glass of milk.] Ten minutes later, breakfast was served. My daughter ate all the pot pie, and had seconds, and thirds, on the bologna. The dog also had three pieces of bologna. The big glass of milk got spilled on the dog, and I got a memory that will forever bring a smile to my face.
