Dell Desktop Computers Fight Laptop Computer

Tony garcia
Have you ever had to decide whether or not to get a Dell desktop computer over a laptop? Unfortunately I never considered the difference in these types of computers. But it really should be like the two choices must fight for your precious attention. Everyone loves a good fight anyway, even if it is between two computers. Back in 2004 I bought a Dell desktop computer. I was extremely happy with this purchase. You must understand, before that, I had a Compaq with only 10 gigs of space. My Dell computer boasts 70 gigs. I was happy, but I never even considered getting a laptop computer!

Anyway, before I got my Dell desktop computer I was ignorant. I didn't even realize the necessity of renewing virus protection every so often. I would constantly fight with computer problems, I remember one of them was called "W Script." It was very annoying. One day my Compaq just gave out on me.

It took me a year to get my another desktop computer. I was happy with the Dell, until summer rolled around.

When I ordered my Dell desktop computer, my old brother and I both pitched in to get my little brother a laptop computer. It is a Dell also, and has 15 gigs. Of course I thought it was the inferior computer. In some cases, my desktop computer may be superior to my little brother's laptop, but not in all cases.

There is one thing I will always envy about his laptop computer. Had I known about this one thing, it would have totally changed my purchase from a Dell desktop computer to a laptop computer. His laptop has almost no need of an internal fan! It does have one, but for some reason the fan in a laptop computer is different. As you all know, computers operate best under cooler conditions. Heat isn't good for them. It makes the fan fight to keep the desktop computers cooler. When you live in the desert, like I do, your desktop computers will have to fight all day with heat and even warm nights.

While my Dell desktop computers sound like a hurricane in the summertime, my brother's laptop computer is calm as a pond.

Back in the summer of 2004 I realized that my Compaq desktop computer also had this same "loud fan" problem, before it broke down. That was when I first wished I had ordered a laptop computer instead of my Dell desktop computer. Now my desktop computers have to fight for my attention. With summer just around the corner, I already have to put up with the annoying fan, blowing all the time. Putting up with heat makes it hard enough to concentrate. The constant noise makes concentration that much more difficult.

As a writer I enjoy my peace, but it seems I'll have none for the next four months or so. I'll have to fight the heat and the fan until I can afford a laptop computer. There's always the eBay option, maybe I could get $200 for my Dell at this point. The Compaq desktop computer, which is working agin wouldn't get me $50, unfortunately.

Another advantage of getting a laptop computer, that I failed to heed, is the travel benefits. As a writer it would really help if I could take my Dell desktop computer everywhere I went. My little brother takes his laptop computer to work. When he has nothing better to do, he pulls it out and turns it on. Anytime I come up with a creative idea, I'm forced to carry paper and a pen with me to jot it down. It would be a lot more convenient if I could just make small little notes on a Word Pad document, or something.

In my book, laptop computers win the fight against desk top computers.
