POWER SUPPLY
Unlike some LCD monitors, the Dell E153FPc features a built-in power supply. This means that it only requires a standard three-prong power cord, not a model-specific AC adapter. My wattage meter indicates that the monitor only consumes around 13 to 14 watts of power.
PERFORMANCE
The Dell model E153FPc LCD monitor displays a wide range of colors and screen resolutions with good clarity. 640x350, 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768 all display well, though not with the same sharpness that a CRT monitor provides. The backlight isn't excessively bright.
DURABILITY
During about five years of light to moderate use, the monitor continues to function normally. No dead or "stuck" pixels have appeared and the buttons still work properly. The power button doesn't appear very durable, so I'd recommend turning it on and off with a power strip.
MANUAL, DRIVERS
This flat panel LCD monitor does not come with a printed instruction manual. Instead, Dell supplied a compact disc that contains the instructions in HTML format, as well as the drivers. The CD label indicates that the drivers include CAT, ICM, and INF files.
DESCRIPTION
The Dell E153FPc is a square black unit with silver-colored buttons and an adjustable stand. The back panel has a power jack and a 15-pin VGA connector. Dell printed some brief specifications and various symbols on the back, including UL and Energy Star logos.
SPECIFICATIONS
The CD-based instruction manual indicates that the Dell E153FPc active matrix monitor has an optimal and maximum display resolution of 1024x768 pixels. Including the stand and the VGA video cable, it weighs nine pounds. It has a 25 ms response time and a .297mm dot pitch.
