The Dell IN1910N monitor is rated as a 19 inch, but the actual screen size is 18.5 inch diagonal with a 16:9 widescreen actual screen size. Since my wife already has a 17 inch LCD monitor, we hooked it up to her new computer and installed the Dell monitor to our media center. Our media center is used solely for watching movies and TV, so we need a monitor that is bright enough, a high enough contrast to give us that sharp picture, and a refresh rate high enough to eliminate ghosting. The Dell monitor fulfills all these requirements with room to spare.
The specs on this monitor include:
16:9 widescreen aspect ratio
250 cd/m^2 brightness
1000:1 contrast ratio
VGA connector for hook up to almost any computer
and it works with two back lights instead of four giving you energy savings.
Even though the Dell IN1910N monitor has only 2 back lights, you cannot tell as the lighting is very evenly dispersed leaving no bright or dark spots in the image. Dell backs the monitor with its 3 year advanced exchange policy, and to top it off, for Media purposes, Dell also has a sound bar that mounts to the bottom of it, giving you stereo sound from the same direction as the video source. We did not opt to purchase the sound bar was we have our own sound system for now, but this does enhance he beauty of this monitor.
If you are looking for a 19" widescreen monitor for media use or even basic computing, I have to say we are tickled pink, (no it's more than that, perhaps purple), with this monitor. It comes on fast, responds immediately to the computers output, and I would not hesitate to use this monitor for doing digital editing work. It is very pleasing to the eye and looks stylish whether it is on or off. I would not hesitate to purchase another one.
