Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop Review

The Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop computer is a great laptop that you can find for at a discount price these days. One of the great features of this laptop is the 15.4 inch LCD screen. A lot of laptops ship with a 14.1 inch screen, the extra inch really does matter. It has a fast 1.6 GHZ Intel Pentium M processor and shipped with 512 MB of RAM. A 60 GB hard drive is more then enough to store all your music and video files as well as several large programs. It has a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive but no DVD burner here which is disappointing and you will have to buy one for around $99 dollars if you want to burn DVDs with this laptop.

One great thing about this laptop is that it has 4 USB 2.0 ports. Most laptops only have one or two USB ports. The 64 MB Rage ATI Radeon chip is enough to watch streaming video and play some heavy 3D games with ease although some choppiness can be expected. It comes with a wireless card so you can easily connect to the internet right out of the box.

The case is a white and silver color and it has a great black keyboard. The Dell Inspiron 6000 originally came out back in 2005 and sold for over $1000 dollars. Today you can find one on eBay for as little as $200 dollars. It is a great computer for the average user that doesn't need to do a lot of heavy computing. Another negative is that the battery only last about two hours which isn't that great by 2005 standards and is even worse by todays standards when it comes to laptop battery life. It has a PCMIA port so you can add an a cellular broad band card or other upgrades through that port.

In conclusion the Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop is a pretty good laptop that is still useful today. The 1.6 GHZ processor is just fast enough to be relevant in todays computing world. 512 MB of ram can be upgraded easily to 1 GB or possibly beyond. The big plus about this laptop is the four USB ports, you can hook up a whole bunch of accessories to this laptop like several external hard drive and a camera and video game controllers as well as an iPod all at once. That is pretty valuable today because most computers only come with two USB ports.
