The Dell Streak 7 tablet utilizes the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system which is popular among tablets whose screen is 7". It is a suitable operating system for this size because it makes an efficient use of space and different desktops to enhance multitasking capabilities. The 7" multi-touch display features Corning Gorilla Glass which is the toughest glass on the market today. Not only is it scratch resistant, it can handle impacts which would shatter another type of screen with ease. The Streak 7 has 16GB of internal storage and is expandable to 48 through the use of a memory card slot. The memory card slot is compatible with SD, MMC, and SDHC memory cards of up to 32GB. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in which allows it to connec to the Internet as well as Bluetooth devices such as wireless keyboards, headsets, and mobile phones. Another nice perk is the built-in GPS. Not many tablets, especially tablets at this price point, can offer a built-in GPS feature. Besides being able to access the Internet via Wi-Fi, the Dell Streak 7 tablet can access T-Mobile's 4G network. If you want you can sign up for a 2-year contract, or you can pay-as-you-go.
The physical dimensions of the tablet are 7.87 in. x 4.72 x .49. It weighs 1 pound which is a little hefty compared to other tablets on the market. The Dell Streak 7 tablet is built on the NVIDIA Tegra 2 Mobile Processor, the first processor built specifically for tablets. It fully supports Adobe Flash 10.1 so your favorite websites will load up and be seen exactly the way you want them to. There is a rear-facing 5 megapixel auto focus camera that has flash. A camera with flash is also something you don't see on many tablets today. Besides the rear-facing camera, there is also a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video chatting through services like ooVoo and Qik. The NVIDIA GeForce GPU is a popular graphics processor in tablets and provides crisp video playback and intense gaming experiences.
With the Dell Streak 7 tablet you can share photos, videos and movies with your friends and family. Browse the Internet, play games, send e-mails, download content, post to your favorite social network; all of this is possible and encouraged. Use Stage, software which comes with the tablet that gives you quick access to your favorite videos and music. Read a book by perusing through the 700,000 that can be found in the Android store. Use the free Tegra Zone Android app to find games specially made for the Dell Streak 7 tablet. Connect it to an HDTV to stream content in the highest possible resolution. The options are yours!
As usual with tablets accessories are a must. If anything you need to make sure that your tablet is protected against scratches and drops. Since the Dell Streak 7 tablet already has Corning Gorilla Glass you don't have to worry about a screen protector, but you're still going to want to get some sort of case. Two that I would recommend are the OtterBox Commuter Case and OtterBox Defender Case. Both are extremely protective, but the Defender Case takes it to the next level with a 3-layer design that ensures protection against impacts from a high height and/or impacts on the corners of the tablet. Dell offers a case that turns into a stand which can rotate. Lastly, I would recommend getting an HDMI cable so you can port videos and photos to your HDTV in full high definition.
