Demi Lovato Leaves Tour Enters Rehab

Disney bubble-gum sweetie and teen pop singer, Demi Lovato has quit touring with the Jonas Brothers to enter a treatment facility for what is being reported as eating and psychological disorders.

Wow. Who could have seen that one coming? Apparently, Demi Lovato has had issues with cutting herself and eating disorders for quite some time. Another victim of school house bullying, Demi has suffered, according to a statement released by her family, from "emotional and physical issues for quite some time."

Demi Lovato missed one show on the tour last week, which aroused concerns and curiosity among her fans. Shortly thereafter, she also abruptly disappeared from the popular social network site, Twitter, which aroused even more concern. Then, she abruptly quit the tour this weekend.

Though I'm not a follower of the Disney crowd these days, I have noticed both Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato as stand-outs. Particularly, since they have still managed to maintain some semblance of youth and modesty with their image - unlike wild child, Miley Cyrus - in spite of the wild ways of Hollywood and celebrity. To be able to hold up under that kind of pressure, certainly speaks well of them and their character and perhaps even their family structure.

Demi Lovato has never appeared to be anything but the picture of health. So, even I, an old and out of touch, middle-aged mom, wouldn't have suspected she had any type of eating disorder. I certainly wouldn't have expected cutting behavior. But, then, all of life is a stage, says Shakespeare, and reality is what happens behind closed doors.

There is no word yet on if and when Demi will return to her tour with the Jonas Brothers, but, this mom of teens and tweens is wishing her well today and hopes she makes it back to her life and friends whole and well soon.
