Democrat Congresswoman Imitates Tea Party: "It's Unconstitutional!" She Mocks

Snidely Whiplash
California Democrat Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez has something to say about the Tea Party caucus and the members individually. As reported on Fox, Sanchez says "Everything to them is unconstitutional. It's unconstitutional, it's unconstitutional, it's unconstitutional." Consider her point for a minute.

Sanchez goes further in her derision and feigns a Southern accent when she does it. Now I'm sure some of the Tea Party freshmen and women are indeed form the South, and perhaps a couple have an accent as strong and Southern as Mississippi governor Haley Barbour, but I am certain all of the Tea Party caucus are not from Southern states. In fact the leader of the Tea Party caucus is Michele Bachmann from Minnesota, and while the progressively educated may think Minnesota is in the South, let me assure them, it is not.

What this is about is using a feigned Southern accent to deride and belittle her fellow lawmakers. Clearly the imitation is indicative of the old mantra that people from the South are dumbassed hicks. She then tied the Tea Party members to the Bitrther group when she thought she'd be funny and offered "Sanchez, can I see your papers? I don't believe you're a congresswoman. Let's see your birth certificate." How inclusive and welcoming of her.

This is exactly what my article was addressing yesterday...the complete lack of respect from the other side that thinks themselves so superior. I likened that disrespect to the pre-American Civil War when anti-slavery movements in the Northern states devoted considerable effort to demonizing Southerners. As I argued, it wasn't so much a political or ideological disagreement as it was a two-fold issue.

The first issue was indeed the disrespect and shame the anti-slavery faction heaped upon the Southern gentlemen for practicing slavery in the first place. Those seeking to abolish slavery were directly threatening the lives and livelihoods of Southern families. And to heap misery upon misery they used hate to denigrate Southerners in order to paint them as wearing horns having arisen directly from Hell. Men will only be disrespected and pushed so far and then all Hell is coming, and indeed we had the four bloody years.

Wanna know what will make a man fight? Take up arms against his countrymen? Threaten his life, livelihood and the ability to better his lot and raise his family. That will get one "skinned up" damned fast.

The second issue that is of such importance is the seeking of the change merchants to break the compact between all the states. The Constitution is in full force now, as it was then. The South felt they entered into the Union guaranteed the right to practice their economics and any reneging on the part of anyone wishing to abolish slavery was, in the minds of Southerners, breaking the agreement of the Constitution.

Now 150 years later we find ourselves here once more. Demanding change merchants use derision to attempt to influence people into believing anyone who does not agree with their desired change is an idiot, a "Southern hick" not deserving of respect and in fact worthy of hateful rhetoric. And the worst part is once again these change merchants seek to unlawfully break the compact of the Constitution.

They know what they want cannot be openly spoken of so they seek to circumvent the law to seek their change. To shame anyone who does not agree with them. To use any tactic at their disposal to win the day. We will resist this with extreme prejudice. We will make them abide by the law. If they want this change let them succeed in amending the Constitution by the lawful manner. After all, that is what the states agreed to, right? That is how the United States came into being, no?

Perhaps progressives will keep in mind that most citizens respect and revere the Constitution. It is the supreme law of the land and well more than 1,000,000 have died defending it in our nation's wars. We do not take any attempt at shredding, deriding or circumventing it as a joke. Keep it up and they'll see, up close and personal.

Those who seek to employ these methods are foul. I am from the South. I have almost no accent at all and I would stack my education and IQ up against any of them whenever they grow a pair and want to fight fair. Or they can fight dirty if they must. I am all about that too and am quite good at it. Nothing between us but air and opportunity, right? What say they finally man up and put their money where their fat, lying mouths are? What's that? Not so brave now? No surprise there.

Sounds like the congresswoman was being a bit immature... but then again... she is just fitting right in with the current politicians in our government ;)

Very informative article. I'm from the "north" but I've spent a fair amount of time in the south. It shows a lot of ignorance when people "profile" southerners that way,

Last year, I was researching some local history up here in Pennsylvania and discovered that a black American was lynched in my home town in the early 1900s. They accused the man of stealing from a general store. No trial, no arrest--just hanged him when the local citizens caught him. So much for the myth of Northern "tolerance."

Of couse,. it's much more politically convenient to scapegoat the South.
