In an American Spectator article dated September 30, it was put forth that, as the article was titled, "Democrat Leaders Played to Lose." On American Spectator online there is a section called the Washington Prowler, and the writer of said article goes by the moniker "The Prowler." The reporter confirmed what seemed to be at the root of the bailout bill's failure to pass, specifically that Democrat House leaders didn't want the bill to pass.
According to unnamed "leadership aides" Speaker Pelosi not only didn't want the bill to pass but in fact "Speaker Pelosi ordered her Majority Whip, Jim Clyburn, to essentially not do his job in his runup to the vote on Monday," (my emphasis) One leadership aide even went so far to announce "we didn't want the push for votes to be successful." The same aide added "This was not going to be a Democrat passed bill if the Speaker had anything to say about it."
Another aide offered "It worked out, because we didn't have a dog in this fight." Those words and especially the thought process behind them seems to sum up for all of us that because the bill was a Bush proposal, therefore Democrats "didn't have a dog in this fight." Here is stark and undeniable reality that when it comes to the choice of the nation's business or partisan politicking, at least as applied to Democrats, partisan politicking will win out over doing the nation's business every time.
So, as the aide termed it "it worked out?" They (Democrats) "didn't have a dog in this fight?" But how can this be? Aren't the needs of the American public to be categorized as "a dog in this fight?" So working for the betterment of the people does not constitute a "dog in this fight" for Democrats?" Only partisan interests and reelections are pertinent to the work being done in Congress? I wonder how these sentiments, AS EXPRESSED BY DEMOCRATS THEMSELVES, square with their never ending mantra of "helping the little guy?"
Their actions and their admissions of their actions clearly demonstrate that Congressional Democrats main interests are getting reelected and making sure no investigations that shine a negative light upon them and their actions is their primary concern. I mean, after all, that is what they said in their own words, right? Remember, they admit they "don't have a dog in this fight." Which leaves the voting American where exactly on the scale of importance, as expressed by the Democrats themselves?
Especially interesting is one of the players in this effort to not see the bill passed. House Democrat Conference Chair Rahm Emanuel served as a board member at Freddie Mac, but in his job of helping "whip" the rank and file into line, Emanuel had "no misgivings about tanking the bill." Pay close attention to the next quote. An aide stated "He was cheerleading us along, mothering the votes." The aide went on that "We wanted enough [votes] to put pressure on the Republicans and Congressman Emanuel was charged with making it close enough. He did a great job," summed up the aide.
To sum up the realities, The Prowler wrote "Pelosi and her aides made it clear they were not going to 'whip' or twist the arms of members who did not want to vote, but they also made no effort to rally any support far a bill they attempted to hijack over the weekend." (my emphasis)
The Prowler closed their article with the following two paragraphs I reprise in their entireties:
"Further, according to House Oversight Committee staff, Emanuel has received assurances from Pelosi that she will not allow what he termed a 'witch hunt' to take place during the next Congressional session over the role Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac played in the economic crisis." (my emphasis)
"Emanuel apparently is concerned the roles former Clinton Administration members may have played in the mortgage industry collapse could be politically - or worse, if the Dept. of Justice had its way, legally - treacherous for many." (my emphasis)
Did y'all catch the salient points here? That Pelosi and the Congressional Democrats had no intention of passing the bailout bill? That Rahm Emanuel, a House Democrat leader, sat on the board of Freddie Mac? That Pelosi will see to it that no investigations take place to determine who is responsible for all this mess, if Democrats are in any way negatively implicated? And that Emanuel is concerned that former Clinton Administration members might be held criminally liable in some way?
But wait - I thought Mrs. Pelosi was presiding over the most moral Congress ever? Isn't that what those more than 300 Congressional investigations into the Bush Administration were about, Mrs. Pelosi? Isn't that what you said? Isn't that why you launched all those inquires, more than 300 thus far, that have not turned up EVEN ONE SINGLE SUBSTANTIATED ALLEGATION OF WRONG DOING? Wasn't the motivation of "the most moral Congress ever," to determine wrongdoing, lay blame where appropriate, and then act accordingly, to ya know, the law?
So dear readers, remember what you've read here when you watch the news and hear the Congressional Democrats telling you that this mess, and the failure to pass a bailout bill, are entirely the fault of Republicans. And while you're remembering this, remember that the Democrats themselves are the ones exposing their deeds to the light of day. Every quote I have attributed here is directly from the mouth of a Congressional Democrat politician or their staffs, who of course, are Democrats as well.
Clearly, when it comes to a choice between what's best for the nation is pitted against what's best for Democrat reelection efforts, it seems the reelection efforts win out every time, at least when it comes to Capitol Hill and the Democrats that reside there. And when ya get mad about this mess, and want to blame someone, maybe you'll recall the Democrats proudly bragging how they tanked the bailout; had no intention of passing it despite their words to the contrary; that Pelosi has admitted she will block any efforts to investigate this mess if any Democrats can be held responsible for it; and make sure at every turn, truth be damned - blame a Republican!
Remember, these are the words and efforts directly from the mouths of the Congressional Democrats who are lying to all of us at every turn. Wanna be mad at someone? Try your local Democrat if you're interested in placing blame in the right and proper laps.
What a sad commentary on the state of the American political landscape, and worse, a sad commentary on the intestinal fortitude, or complete and total lack thereof, of Congressional Democrats who have just admitted what they're up to!
They will stand by and tank our economy to see to it they win all in November. Remember!

Post a CommentThanks for the tip Sheryl, and especially thanks for your undying loyalty.
I have found a way to ask all our Congress people - in one e-mail - to get some of OUR money back by requiring that greedy CEO's and Wall Street financiers give BACK the landfalls they've walked away with! Go here: http://www.traditionalvalues.org/workfiles/09302008/alert.html - everyone may not agree with all of this group's philosophies, but this website page gives some ridiculous examples of recent CEO's "bonuses" while Middle America suffers, and an opportunity to quickly send an e-mail to our respective reps & senators. It's one way Dems & Repubs can work together! If you don't want to start receiving consistent e-mails from TVC, just unclick the 2 "message me" options at the bottom.
