Debut CD is a Runaway Hit

Ah, The lounges of yesterday. A place with chairs that you sank into and the sweet smell of perfume from well dressed ladies mixed with the smoky aroma of fine cigars. One was able to sit back, sip on a martini and feel the music inject a subtle sexiness swirling around the room. The good thing is the lounge sound of yesterday is timeless and with stars like Michael Buble and Harry Connick Jrand with rising stars like Denise Brigham, the classics are making a big comeback.

Denise is one of the few female artists in the new wave of jazz artists that focus in on the sweet and timeless songs of yesterday. Denise's debut CD, Hotel LaFayetteis one for any collection. Her sultry voice and superb interpretation of tunes like Fly Me To the Moon, Whatever Lola Wants, and Johnny Angel shows she has the ability to take songs and make them 'hers'.

Done with a full orchestra backing her, is one of the best debut CDs issued by any vocalist from any genre in 2009.

Denise was 'discovered' by her husband when one day heard her singing when Denise didn't know he was anywhere around. After a long discussion over her talent and discovering singing has been his wife's lifelong dream, Adrian arranged for a restaurant Manager, who often performed for his patrons, to invite Denise to join him in a song. It took putting Denise into a difficult spot such as this to get her up in front of an audience, for she truly didn't feel she was that good. But once she found that people actually enjoyed her performance, she gained more confidence and with the loving support from her number one fan, her husband Adrian, she started hitting the Karaoke Bars, and eventually working her way into nightclub performing.

In 2007 the big break happened. After first turning down the project of a CD, Carey Deadman, Chicago's top arranger producer, actual listened to Denise's show and realized here was true talent. Booking the recording at Chicago Recording Studio and Tone Zone Studios, along with pulling in the citys top musicians, Deadman pulled out all the stops to craft Hotel Lafayette.

The result is a CD that ranked number 4 on WHLI out of New York City/Long Island list of the top 50 new albums for 2009. Hotel Lafayette also gained the ear of the Grammy's, having made the first round of ballots for five Grammy Award categories including for Best Arranger and Producer for vocals; Best Engineer; Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album; Best Producer of the year.

Today, Denise is still busy performing and promoting her CD, with her husband Adrian by her side. Seeing his wife living out her dream is thrilling for him. It is the best reward for his spending "all of those nights sitting in karaoke bars with her waiting for her turn in the rotation." Says Adrian.

Hotel Lafayette is one every adult standard fan to have in their collection. Put it in your player, grab a "shaken not stirred" Martini, and close your eyes. The lady will do the rest.
