At the time I chemically relaxed my hair, and it was very fragile and dry, so it would become really frizzy with other brushes and I hoped the Denman brush would create a smoother finish.
I bought the Denman D3 Brush for $9.49. The handle of it black and is made from a sturdy plastic. The pad of the brush is made from rubber that's the color of coral. The D3 has seven rows of straight narrow pins that are made from nylon.
Sally's website claims that the D3 has an anti-static pad that provides "maximum grip and control during blow-drying, for smoothing, shaping, and polishing hair." Sally's also says that the D3 Denman brush is also heat-resistant and is supposed to be great for thick hair.
I was very impressed by this Denman brush the first time I used it to blow-dry my thick strands. I was able to control each section of hair without it snagging or breaking strands of hair off. The D3 glided through and worked with the heat of the blow-dryer to really smooth out each section.
The Denman D3 was the best brush I'd tried, and I noticed a difference with how my hair looked and felt. My blow-outs usually went well with this brush giving me silky, shiny, results.
Since that time though I've stopped relaxing my kinky, tightly curled hair and I began to wear it au naturel. I don't use any heat on it so I put my Denman brush away because I thought I didn't have a need for it.
But I recently began to use the D3 again in order to detangle my tightly wound curls. I was afraid that it would damage my strands, but the D3 is quite gentle. It really unravels tiny tangles, and I've found it still smoothes out my hair even without any heat, and it even helps to define my curls.
Now that my hair is natural if I ever wanted to do a blow-out, I'd use a round brush first, to really straighten the curls, and then I'd use the D3 to create a smooth finish, because the D3's teeth are too widely spaced to straighten tight curls like mine's.
In the End...
The Denman D3 is awesome. It's the most gentle brush I've used. It's amazing for creating smooth frizz-free hair, whether it's straight or curly, and regardless if you're using a blow-dryer. For me it's an essential styling tool. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Post a CommentThanks for the review. I just bought a D3 brush and I hope it helps me. I just can't figure out how to remove it for cleaning.
