Dennis Hopper Divorces

When this situation involves the marital status of those in the public eye it can lead to a bloody civil war. Ask Dennis Hopper, the famed co-star and director of the classic film "Easy Rider". He is currently in proceedings to divorce wife number five. His goal is to spend some quality time during his final days with his children and 6-year old daughter. He is afflicted with cancer of the prostate. His current medical treatment involves chemotherapy for advanced metastasized prostate cancer.

Supporting evidence and declarations have been filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court by Hopper, now 73 years of age, along with those of his children, doctors and personal assistant. The filings are to back up his petition for divorce.

Divorce from Victoria Duffy, age 42, was petitioned for on January 14, 2020. In a later statement, Hopper made clear he wished to be surrounded by his friends and children. Unfortunately, the couple's daughter, named Galen, has been a center of controversy and literally involved in a tug of war divorce scenario.

Mr. Hopper was allowed daily visitation rights to his daughter by a Los Angeles Court Judge. This was rewarded after a claim of Victoria Duffy taking Galen away for long periods of time. Duffy also was cited with a restraining order to keep a distance of 10 feet from Hopper and his family. She is also barred from entrance to the main estate, a five-home real estate holding in Venice, California. Filed documents depict an environment filled with screaming and shouting from Duffy in an extremely volatile manner while her spouse of 13 years has become a frail 120lb man prone to vomiting from taking prescribed medications.

Dennis Hopper spent the Christmas holiday without his Galen. She had been taken by Duffy to Boston and caused Hopper to miss what might have been his last Christmas with his daughter. This was after Duffy had made claims of Hopper being an abusive husband, toting a gun and smoking pot. She also claimed that the divorce was actually due to coercion of his three adult children. His eldest daughter, Marin age 47, was at the top of the list. Duffy also accused the 19 year old son, Henry Hopper, of stealing priceless art work from his father. After changing the locks to bar his entrance, the items in question were later found in the basement where they had been placed in storage.

Duffy has claimed that Dennis Hopper is not competent enough to handle his financial and legal affairs. Two doctors support the opposite with documentation. This allows Hopper to be competent enough to file for divorce without any undue influence from outside parties. David Agus, Hopper's personal physician believes and recommends that Hopper should have little to do with his estranged spouse, thus extending his life.

Home life has never been dull, by any means, which included an eight day stint with Michelle Phillips. How his current situation will end is any one's guess. Being a public figure makes it more volatile and subject to more scrutiny.
