Denny's Breakfast Bar in Orlando, FL on Labor Day Weekend

We spent the Labor Day weekend in Orlando. It is only an hour drive from our house and we wanted to get away from home. If we knew the traffic was going to be horrible (on the road and everywhere else) we would have stayed home. On our first morning, we decided to give Denny's a try for breakfast.

Denny's was only a couple of blocks from our hotel. Labor Day weekend traffic was horrible so it took us about twenty minutes to get to the restaurant. Denny's was just as crowded as the roads. It seems like everybody in Orlando had the same idea as us. They all decided to try the breakfast buffet at Denny's.

The line came out the door at Denny's. Everybody and their brother decided to go to Orlando for Labor Day weekend. Incredibly, most of the people in the Orlando were foreigners. You could tell by the accents and the many different dialects being thrown about Denny's. The people may have been speaking English, but it wasn't what we were used to.

We finally made it inside the Denny's and found a seat. My wife waited in line while I sat on the cushioned bench with my children. A large lady walked up close to me and sat down. Part of her rear portion ended up on my lap. I moved away and decided it was time for me to join my wife in line. Labor Day weekend was just getting stranger and stranger.

We stood in the line waiting for Denny's to allow us to eat. One couple walked through the door. The lady elbowed me and the man stepped on my foot. They apologized without much meaning to their words. Finally, we made it to feeding time at Denny's breakfast bar. We were seated by a very polite lady. Our waitress was pleasant and happy in the mess. I was worried she may have fell over the deep end and was now crazy. It turned out she was actually just a very nice Denny's waitress.

We made it to the breakfast bar at Denny's. We had to wait in another line to get our chow. When we reached the food, most of it was gone. You had to elbow your way to the eggs. You had to sneak your way to the pancakes. A little boy tried to sneak in line ahead of me. I gave him the eye and the sneer I learned during my early years in Philly. I made it to the sausages. The bacon was gone and a large lady was trying to sneak her way to the sausage. I told my wife to grab two pieces of sausages. The large lady looked at me sadly. I believed I ruined her breakfast at Denny's, but this was war.

We made it back to our seats with our food. Denny's breakfast bar left us with a few scratches and an assortment of food. We had eggs, we had pancakes and my wife had grits. I managed to get two biscuits and gravy before they were gone. My children helped me eat the pancakes. My son asked me to go up and get him strawberries and shortcake. Amazingly, nobody else was interested in the strawberries and shortcake, so he lucked.

We finished our Denny's breakfast bar food and washed it down with orange juice. The bill was $32.00 including a tip for the nice waitress. We made it out of Denny's on Labor Day weekend in Orlando with no broken bones and full stomachs. I was so full; I didn't eat anything else until later that night. Denny's breakfast bar was very good considering the crowd, the jostling for position and the quickly disappearing food. Most of the employees were incredibly nice considering how rude some of their customers were. Denny's breakfast bar was good, but don't try this at home kids.

Great work. High 5! ♥ I have never liked going to Denny's; I believe their food is overpriced for what is served. However, I did have a banana split in Seattle once, in lieu of dinner, and it was the best I've ever eaten.

Hi 5 friend LeRoy. I had a friend who worked at Denny's once & she shared that roaches crawled among their salad greens, which they stored in a big trash can. Never ate there again!
