Safe Arms is a company that excels in training the public on the proper use and care of firearms. The NRA and other national organizations to train in these courses also certify them. There is considerable information about the CCW or "concealed carry permit" on the web site. Many people will want to carry their weapon with them at all times, so it's important to have a conversation with someone at the school about the laws in Colorado before you go to the expense and time to take one of these courses. Every state has its own laws and they may be quite different. For all beginners, they advise taking the basic NRA pistol course. There's no prerequisite, anyone aged 10 and up can take it, and it lasts 10 hours. This course qualifies for the minimum training requirement for Colorado permit as well as the permit issued by some other states. The basic pistol course is listed as costing $135 presently. People can go on from there to specialize with further course work. 6545 West 44 Avenue/ Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 Tel 303.295.2235. Their toll-free number is 866-512-SAFE.

The course for beginning handgun use lasts 10 hrs. and is for children 10 and over, and all adults. It costs $125. Contact them at 303-309-1176 in the Denver area.
