You will need an empty plastic spray bottle, one box of baking soda, warm water, and a few drops of essential oil in your choice of fragrance. First pour one cup of baking soda into your spray bottle. Then fill the bottle with warm water to dissolve the baking soda. Add ten to twelve drops of essential oil. Then close your spray bottle and shake it well to mix thoroughly. You have just made your own Febreze spray.
Spray a generous amount of this solution onto any fabrics that need refreshing. The ingredients are gentle enough to use all around the house. There are no harsh chemicals to harm you or your family. Spray your carpet, couches, curtains, bath mats, and bed sheets for instant refreshment. You can use it in your car as well to freshen up the seats and carpet. Spray and walk away! This solution air dries quickly.
This spray is great for pet odors as well. Spray your pet beds generously without having to worry about any harsh chemicals making your pets sick. For more stubborn pet odors left by large dogs, try sprinkling some baking soda directly onto the offensive smelling area first. Let the baking soda sit for half an hour and then vacuum it up. Then spray your homemade Febreze over the entire area.
Baking soda is a natural deodorizer that absorbs and neutralizes nasty odors. Essential oils are highly concentrated scents that will linger on whatever you spray. Essential oils come in all sorts of wonderful scents, so be sure to find a seller online to find whatever scent suits you. Lemongrass, orange, and bergamot essential oils are wonderful clean smells. These particular scents will naturally neutralize odors even further.
This spray works wonders on smoke odors. I smoke in a back room of the house and it gets stinky in there. The air is stale and dry. After spraying this baking soda solution onto the carpet the entire room is refreshed within minutes. I also keep a bit of baking soda in my ashtray for some extra odor protection.
A bottle of Febreze will cost you about five dollars and the scent choices are limited to what the company offers. A homemade bottle of Febreze will cost you about two dollars and can smell like anything you like. Do the math, smell the difference, and keep your home fresh for less!

Post a CommentI heard that baking soda will leave a residue. Vinegar doesn't. People may complain of the smell, but I use it around my house on almost everything and once it dries, the odor dissipates.
ESSENTIAL OILS ARE TOXIC TO CATS!!!! DO NOT SPRAY ON THERE BEDS OR ANYWHERE THEY WILL BREATHE IT IN!!
how big of a bottle would you need? I used an old frebreze bottle but one cup of baking soda seemed like alittle too much?
Great idea :)
