Depression

Depression can be the hardest thing anyone could ever go though. You feel sad, lonely, tired. You don't want to get out of bed most if the time and even when you do, you simply want to go back to your bed. People fall in to such a hard depression that they find it extremely hard to climb out of it and this sometimes results in suicide.

More than 19 million people in the United States have depression and more than half of that number can either not find the treatment that they need or they cannot afford it. Therapy is the best source a person with depression can receive because it not only makes them feel better it can also show them why they became depressed in the first place. Sometimes it can be caused by one thing while other times it can be caused by multiple events in a person's life. Finding an answer is always helpful.

When depression comes at a person they may feel very different symptoms and it is true some people do not even realize that they have depression at all.

Here are some symptoms to look for

Sadness
Insomnia
Chronic pain
Irritable
Feelings of worthlessness
Uncontrollable negative thoughts
Loss of interest in daily activities
Under-eating or overeating/weight loss/weight gain
Drug/alcohol use
Disoriented/ trouble concentrating
Suicidal thoughts/ thoughts of death
Attempts at suicide

These are all ways that a person show signs of depression but some of them also happen upon mood changes, therefore the typical "I'll be fine" line is used to cover the symptoms. The truth is, in this world today you never really know what is a mood swing and what is a sign of trouble. We all have witnessed the recession and what it has done to millions of families therefore when you see the signs of depression it should be treated as so.

If you or someone you love appears to be depressed for more than two weeks and it does not seem to be getting any better, than you should call a doctor or talk with the person you love about their situation. Depression leads to many different mental illnesses and can even lead to suicide. A person with depression gets a little worse everyday so it can seem to be overnight that they go from down and out to no longer around. Take action and call someone.
