Derby Defeat Puts Canaries on the Brink

That at least will be what all the papers will be saying this morning. You can bet your bottom dollar that Norwich City will now be installed as firm favourites for relegation. However, football is extremely difficult to predict. This is especially true in the championship, where any team can beat any other team.

A lot more will be known about Norwich's fate over this week. Barnsley has two games before Norwich play again. And if as expected Barnsley only manage a small amount of points then Norwich stay in contention. Then, they simply must beat Reading on Monday, 27th April in front of the live sky cameras.

My personal view is if Norwich wins their final two games they will survive no matter what; especially considering the superior goal difference. Darren Eadie has gone on record with his assertion that Norwich will survive, and that four points will do it. Also, Eadie believes Barnsley to be very poor side. That is a statement I agree with. However, I do have the slight fear that if Barnsley play teams with nothing to play for they might be able to grab points.

Norwich City has proved throughout the season that they can live with the best. And it would be nice to think that the team can win two games to save themselves. Only time will tell, but I do hope the quality shines through and Norwich retain their championship status.
