Derek Jeter Engaged Rumors Denied by Jeter and Minka Kelly

Derek Jeter engaged rumors are breaking out, though the Derek Jeter engaged talk may be premature. Derek Jeter engaged stories began when the New York Post alleged that Derek Jeter got engaged to his girlfriend, actress Minka Kelly. However, no one has officially confirmed any Derek Jeter engaged talk, much less Jeter and Kelly themselves. Naturally, Derek Jeter engaged rumors have broken near September, as Jeter hopes to get the Yankees back to the postseason.

The New York Post posted the rumor on their Page Six gossip page, alleging that Derek Jeter got engaged to Minka Kelly in secret, and that they are planning a fall wedding. Of course, the New York Post got this rumor from an unnamed "insider."

The story claims that Jeter and Kelly are telling friends and family to "save the date" for the fall. However - either because they didn't want the secret out this soon, or because it isn't true - reps for the couple denied the Derek Jeter engaged talk.

Minka Kelly's representative denied the story, saying there is no fall wedding planned with Jeter. As for Jeter himself, he was asked about it by the New York Daily News before the Yankees game on Tuesday and denied it, even saying "Engagement rumors with who?"

Jeter and Kelly were already alleged to have gone ring-shopping earlier this year. Neither of them seem set to confirm these engagement rumors either, so speculation will likely go on into the fall.

For Derek Jeter, he hopes to get "one for the thumb" with his fifth World Series ring by then. He and the Yankees are coasting into the playoffs thus far, and many speculate that he could make some personal history with his first MVP award.

His personal life, unlike the likes of Alex Rodriguez, has been relatively tight lipped during his career. Jeter had a series of high profile girlfriends before he landed Minka Kelly, best known for her role in the cult series Friday Night Lights. She also appeared in the indie hit 500 Days of Summer this summer.

The Derek Jeter engaged talk didn't distract Jeter too much on the field last night, as he drove in two runs in the Yankees 9-2 win over the Rangers.
