Descent into Pain

Cheryl Williams

are born of venom

that has seeped its way

who longed for sunny days

laughing in the rain.

Her pain is a badge

that she wears proudly.

It doesn't even hurt anymore.

Some days she craves it

just as much as she once

craved the summertime.
