Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash, Facial Cleansing Pads, and Blemish Stick Review

My Quest for Great Cruelty Free and Vegan Acne Skin Care Products

Catherine Leigh
I am on a quest for a cruelty free skin care regime to deal with my adult acne problem. In the past, I've liked the results I've gotten from products containing tea tree oil, so when I saw Desert Essence's Thoroughly Clean Face Wash with Tea Tree Oil I was happy to give it a try. While the bottle does not specifically claim to treat acne problems, the Desert Essence website does recommend the Thoroughly Clean Face Wash for oily, blemish-prone skin. I also used the Desert Essence Facial Cleansing Pads, and Blemish Touch Stick.

In general, the face wash did make a noticeable improvement in my skin. I saw a reduction in my blemishes fairly quickly after I began using it, and what blemishes I still had seemed more minor. However, after the initial improvement in the first few days, the condition of my skin did not continue to improve, and where I stand now, I'm still unhappy with the amount of breakouts I continue to deal with. The Facial Cleansing Pads were very convenient while I was traveling, and gave me results very similar to the face wash, but the Blemish Touch Stick gave me no noticeable results when I added it to my routine.

Pros of Dessert Essence Products:

Noticeable improvement in the clarity of my skin.
Reduced breakouts.
Pleasant, very mild scent.
Felt nice on my face.
Reasonably priced.
Cruelty free with vegan ingredients.
Both the face wash pump and the cleansing pads were easy to use.

Cons of Dessert Essence Products:
The Blemish Stick did not provide any noticeable results.
Left my skin feeling very mildly dry, and needing a moisturizer.
I still have more acne problems and breakouts than I'm happy with.
The store I buy from does not offer a Dessert Essence moisturizer.

The Bottom Line
I have been happy with my Dessert Essence facial skin care products. I wouldn't buy the Blemish Stick again, and I plan on trying out some other brands to see if I can get further improvement with my acne problems, but if I don't find something that works wonders for me, I plan to return to Dessert Essence. If you have oily skin or mild acne problems, I would recommend these products. If you have more than a few mild blemishes, as I do, then I invite you to look for further skin care reviews from me as I continue to search for my ideal cruelty free acne skin care products.
