Desert Noon

L. Lee Scott
Sun bleaches the sand
Strips the rocks of brilliance

A vulture perches on a rock,
Wings outspread to cool itself.

A snake slithers beneath creosote
Seeking shade, finding none.

The air is still, breathless,
Moisture wicked away.

The land cries out for rain,
For life, for the cycle to go on.

What a beautiful poem. It reminds me of the Mohave Desert.
