Footsteps fading in the dust,
I left my debts on your sandstone altar
and prayed in vain for a cleansing rain
to clear away my sacrifice.

Sun scorching my vulnerable body,
I leave more burdened than when I came.
Unable to shake my guilty soul,
heavy sunken lead-filled chest
I trudge along the sinking dunes -
a desert wanderer and a fool.
