Chipboard embellishments are a favorite for all avid scrapbookers! We love them, just can't help ourselves! They come from all the major companies in every shape and size imaginable. We use them on photo mats, as embellishments, we even design little "pictures" with them. But how can we save money on them? They are so expensive!

That's Easy! Make them at home your self! You can do it for FREE with items you already have laying around the house! Below are 5 simple steps to get you making your own chipboard embellishments in no time at all!

Step One: Gather Your Supplies. You will need any size box from a food item you have around the house, this can be a cereal box or macaroni and cheese, it doesn't really matter because your going to cover it up anyway! Next you will need your desired paper, choose something that matches the layout you plan to put your embellishment on, a glue stick or spray adhesive (preferred) and a scrap piece of sand paper ( I "borrow" my husband's leftovers, rather than buying new)

Step Two: Glue down your paper onto the chipboard, then while you are letting it dry, move onto step three.

Step Three: What are you going to make?? If you can draw at all, simply draw an outline on your back of your chipboard, if you are like most of us and can't draw a straight line, visit the internet! There are thousands of websites that offer free coloring pages. You can find them on any subject you need for Free!

They are generally basic outlines in black and white...perfect for tracing! Cut around the outside of the art and then trace it onto the back of your chipboard. Keep in mind that you are tracing on the back so your art will be backwards when you flip it over!

Step Four: After your glue is dry, cut out around the lines you drew. This works best with a craft knife, but if one isn't available feel free to use scissors!

Step Five: Gently sand the edges of your art. Now you can stamp on it to add words or designs afterwards, you can then add a clear coat acrylix spray or modge podge to give it a shiny look!

Congratulations! You've just made your first chipboard embellishment and it didn't cost you a thing! I'll just bet your head is spinning with ideas too! Go ahead and get to work, it so quick and being free just makes it all that much better!
