There is nothing quite like going home to your castle or home after a long and hard days work. If your castle happens to fit more into a shoebox category then here are some quick and easy tips to increase your bedroom space without breaking the budget.

You do not need to call in the experts to tell you that the best way to increase you bedroom area space is to clear away unnecessary clutter from your floor space. One mistake most homeowners and even renters make is to pack each and every room with unnecessary amounts of furniture. The size of a room and in this case the size of the bedroom should dictate just how much furniture your bedroom can comfortably accommodate. Stuffing your bedroom with furniture even when the furniture is part of a bedroom set can detract from the actual living space and area floor space available to you.

The best solution is to start with measuring the bedroom. Thereafter, use a great indicator which is to equate the distance between the edge of your bed to the edge dresser or dressing table. A cramped room would not have much distance to move comfortably in between the two. By removing the piece of furniture from that particular location in the bedroom you can instantly free up the floor area space. Creating a greater feel to the bedroom and allow yourself to move about the room without feeling cramped or hemmed in.

Oversize furniture in a space challenged bedroom can make the bedroom feel smaller even when it is not. Removing furniture pieces that are either oversize or overbearing in relation to other furniture items in the bedroom will open up the space to allow the feeling of better movement within the room. Most average sized closets tend to be large enough to fit in a good sized wardrobe or dresser table that otherwise would take up value area floor space in the bedroom. Ultimately, try to scale down the pieces of furniture in the bedroom to open up the space without taking away the comfort factor in your bedroom.

Another space increasing idea for cramped bedrooms are mirrors as they are the miracle solutions to space challenged dilemmas. Just one mirror placed in the most strategic place on the wall of your bedroom and overnight your bedroom particularly doubles in size. Choosing a wall to use as an accent wall makes the room instantly appear to have depth and greater dimension. Generally speaking and as a rule this accent walls should be a darker color than the rest of the walls. By keeping the remaining three walls a lighter color you can generate the illusion of space just like that.

Also, incorporate multipurpose furniture pieces that can double up as a dresser, wardrobe or desk for instance to maximum space while decreasing the number of furniture items in the bedroom. For extremely small bedrooms the solution may be right above you. Creating a raise platform in your bedroom frees up valuable floor space while still allowing you to use the space beneath the raised bed area. The area beneath your raised bed can easily be used for your desk/office area or dresser.

Lastly, depending upon how just how determined you really are to create the maximum space in your bedroom purchasing a smaller bed size can be the solution of choice. Downsizing your bed size instantly allows better movement and flow in the bedroom.
