Designer Awareness Ribbons

Carmella Mae Dunkin
Being disabled, my husband and I look for ways to make a meager living. One thing in our favor, is we both have very creative minds, and are constantly coming up with creative, crafty ideas, which we sell via our on line web sites.

One of the many crafts we make are, designer awareness ribbons. These ribbons were started because of Sept 11, and became a designer ribbon due to us being unable to acquire blue ribbon after the World Trade Center was hit on that very sad day. Everyone was making red, white, and blue ribbons to wear in morning of all those who died that day, and there were no blue ribbon to be found anywhere! Instead of blue satin ribbon, we devised a way of using blue fabric to take the place of the blue satin ribbon, and added white and red satin to the blue cloth. The end result was a very pretty awareness ribbon that sold like mad all over town, and helped a mom and her two young children after their father was killed in the Twin Towers, on September 11, 2001.

Today those designer awareness ribbons have come a long way. Now we have a ribbon for toxic mold awareness, autism awareness, breast cancer awareness, domestic violence awareness, hurricane awareness, as well as a few others!

Our awareness ribbons are made with a piece of fabric, and one or two different colored satin ribbon over the fabric ribbon. We then apply a charm, button, or patch to the center that in some way depicts the cause that the ribbon represents.

Our designer awareness ribbons will help you to bring awareness to the cause you care about, through stylish, designer ribbons that will have all your friends asking, "what cause are you supporting"?

The ribbons shown here are, the All American ribbon, (red, white, and blue with white star patch). Hurricane ribbon, (water fabric with white ribbon, and bow), and Autism ribbon, (autism puzzle satin ribbon with toy patch, or button in center). The autism ribbon is made from a special puzzle ribbon, which was designed for this purpose by a ribbon manufacture.

To view our ribbons, and or place an order, you can visit our Designer Awareness Ribbon page on our site at Music and the Arts. Ribbons are $5.00 each, 2 for $7.00, or 3 for $10.00, and that includes shipping, and handling. Order is by e-mail request, and payable via Paypal. Supplies are limited!
