Fashion Trend Analysis Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week in Italy is a week-long event where major design houses - names like Fendi, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, and Armani - come from around the world to showcase their designer fashions. Fashion design weeks are also held in New York, London, and Paris.

Materials Trends and Colour Trends

The fashion news is out for Milan Fashion Week 2010: materials trends were fur, leather, and woolens. Designer fashions were resplendent with furs, textures, shearlings, and metallics. The basic black and gray colour trend still reigns but there were bold trend accessories in shades of pumpkin oranges, mustard yellows, and lime greens adding a splash of fashion design to the basic colours.

Top Designer Fashions

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana unveiled their designer fashions in a line chiefly devoted to outdoors wear. Furs were plentiful in the fashion design, from fur trimmed boots to fur-inspired trend accessories. Dolce & Gabbana emerged number one in buzz ratings according to The Wall Street Journal Blogs "with a 95% positive tonal ranking and a 9% increase in volume." The WSJ online Runway Buzz-o-meter shows the top three fashion labels to be: Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, and Versace.

Clothes Report

Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld delivered their signature fur designer fashions highlighting broadtail, fox, and sable. With so many length variations and styling details, simplifying the line down to one outstanding fashion design was difficult, but the suede leggings are one of the hot trend accessories.

Fashion Trend Analysis

The overall fashion trend analysis of the theme for Milan Fashion Week 2010 was a predominance of designer fashions spotlighting ladylike tailoring designs, with blouses, skirts, and fitted classic pants. Leathers and woolens were the textiles of choice for many of these fashion designs, with surprising trend accessories like sienna elbow length gloves accenting a metallic gray dress.

Trend Accessories

Military style outwear was heavily featured in the designer fashions for 2010 if one judges by the designs seen on the Milan Fashion Week runways. Capes, coats, aviator, and Eisenhower styled jackets were exhibited by most of the fashion designers.

Fashion Models

American Vogue editor and fashion maven Anna Wintour made a surprise appearance after announcing she would be unable to attend the entire show, as did some of the Victoria's Secrets fashion models like Bianca Balti and Doutzen Kroes.

Fashion Forecasting

For those with an eye on fashion forecasting, the fashion designers are trending toward a mix-and-match fashion season of separates as well as textures and fabrics. To achieve the Milan Fashion Week designer fashion look, pair your favorite basic black and white outfits with some fur knee-high boots, leather aviator jackets or accents, or woolen trend accessories.
