Designing a Country Style Bathroom

One of the most coveted rooms in the entire house is, you guessed it, the bathroom! Whether relaxing in a hot bubble bath at the end of the day, or just simply taking care of "business", the bathroom is an important room. How you choose to decorate your bathroom can make a difference as to how comfortable you are while in the bathroom. Personally, I enjoy a country style theme in my bathroom. In order to achieve the country style theme in your bathroom it is a good idea to start with the color of the walls or wall paper. Ideally, light blue is a great color that will assist in bringing out your country decorations. Sky blue or Carolina blue are alternative colors you make choose for the walls of your country bathroom. If blue is just not your choice of colors, you make also decide on a yellow or light yellow color for the walls. Both of these colors are easy to decorate around. They provide the foundation for a perfect country style bathroom theme.

Another idea to keep in mind when decorating in a country style theme is wooden furniture pieces are considered to be included in a country theme. A hand made wooden toilet paper holder is a great start for turning an otherwise ordinary bathroom into a bathroom with a country theme. These wooden stained toilet paper holders fit perfectly in tight places such as a corner or between the commode and the sink. They are wonderful for storing toilet paper rolls neatly just in case you or a guest should happen to run out of toilet paper. Running out of toilet paper can leave you in a sticky situation.

Finding a decorative border for your country style bathroom will only add to the over all affect. Basically, a country themed border will not cost you an arm or a leg. You can find a border that you like at stores such as Lowes, Wal-Mart and local Dollar Stores. I found the border in my bathroom at a local Dollar Store and purchased enough boarder for the entire bathroom for less than four or five dollars. I choose a style that has a little boy and girl in overalls in a field in the middle of a country field.

Since when you think of the country, flowers are associated with it, you may even consider adding fake or real flowers to your country bathroom. I like colorful flowers so I choice to take several small flower pots and fill them with soil and an assortment of flower seeds. This was inexpensive as well. I purchased the flower seeds for around $0.20 and the flowers pots were $1.00 each. I purchased these from a local Dollar Store. I choose to put the flower pots in the window sill.

When choosing towels for your country style bathroom, keep in mind the colors of your bathroom and the colors people most often associate with being in the country. Hand towel and bath towels that will be hung as a display in your bathroom should match the wall color and the boarder. You can even go with a country style design such as flowers. You can buy your hand towels and bath towels at Wal-Mart, The Dollar Store, or any other retail store where you find the pattern you are looking for.

You can purchase an air freshener that puts off a flowery scent to add to your country style bathroom theme. They even have air fresheners that say Country Fresh or Country Flowers available in most all retail stores. This will only enhance the design of the bathroom.

The shower curtain design should either be a plain light blue, yellow or pink matching color or have a country design. You can even go with a flowered shower curtain in conjunction with the country theme. A matching shower and window curtain would be a perfect finish.

Country style knickknacks can be placed on the walls or in areas around the bathroom. This will enhance the country theme of any bathroom. A corner knickknack shelf may look great beside the window. Make sure you use a stained wood shelve since most country style rooms are decorated with shelves of this type.

Kick back and enjoy your freshly decorated country style bathroom. You can enjoy a midday bubble bath to admire all your hard work!
