Now that the walls and floor are taken care of you need to add equipment. If you have a big budget you can add treadmills, elliptical machines, indoor bicycles, even punching bags or a wave master. Buying workout equipment with many functions can be a great space saver. A good example of this would be the Cybex Bravo Functional Trainer. It can be found at www.cybexintl.com.
When you have purchased all the bigger equipment place them along the walls to maximize space. Keep the center of the room open for aerobics and other free movement exercises. If you are on a smaller budget you can forget the bigger equipment. You may want to try to buy a multipurpose machine as I suggested earlier. Plus, you can still bike or run outside and forget about buying the treadmill or indoor bike.
You will definitely need some smaller equipment to add to your home gym. Some smaller workout tools that are very useful are dumbbell sets with a stand, weighted balls, step bench, push-up bars, ankle weights, jump ropes, stability balls, resistance bands, and yoga mats. These are just a few tools that can easily be stored away in a small entertainment center or shelf. However, make sure they are visible so you can always utilize them.
Another item to add would be a television with a DVD player. Collecting a variety of workout DVD's is a great addition to your gym. What gym would be completed without a great collection of music. If you have a stereo or MP3 player you are already covered in the music department. A Wii Fit can also add some fun in your home gym. There are many items you can add to personalize your gym. Pick equipment that is easy to set up or easy to put away. These suggestions can make your home gym more efficient and stay organized.
