The first thing that I want to do is take you to a site called http://creationsbywendalyn.blogspot.com. This site is a wonderful site. You can get examples there of many types of cards. These examples will give you some great ideas. Wendalyn's site will also give many other connections to other websites that you can purchase products at. These products will help you to make beautiful cards. Some of the products that you are going to need are cardstock, rubber stamps, ribbon, and ink.
Here are step by step directions on how to make your card. The first thing that you need to do is decide how large you want your card to be. Once you have decided what size you want your card to be you will then cut a piece of cardstock to that size. Step two is to fold it in half. Step three is to cut a piece of cardstock for the front of your card. You will cut the cardstock a little bit smaller than the front of the cardstock. Glue this piece to the original. Step four is to stamp a picture onto a piece of cardstock. You will do this three times. The reason why you are going to do this three times is because this is going to create a 3-d effect. You are going to color these pictures with colored ink. After they are colored, you can place them onto the card. Glue the first one onto the card. The second and third picture is going to be mounted with mounting tape. This will raise them up and give you a 3-D effect. Step five is going to be where you add additional effects to the card. You can do this by using more stamps or by using glitters and embellishments. Step six is where you will add a sentiment to the middle of the card. Find a stamp that you like and stamp your sentiment. Your card is now complete.
Another idea to make a homemade gift card is to take a piece of cardstock and cut it into the shape of a present. On the present you are going to glue on dots. You can make the dots out of colored cardstock. Make various colors if you would like. After you have glued the dots on you can take ribbon and tie a bow. Glue the ribbon onto the front of the card. The will make it look like a wrapped gift. When you are finished, you can write a sentiment inside the card.
A third idea is to take a brown piece of cardstock and cut it into the shape of a gingerbread man. Take some white paint and draw to lines on the bottom of each ankle area and wrist area. Next create a jacket for your gingerbread man. Add some buttons to his jacket. Next draw a smile on his face. When you have finished with this take some black paint and make some eyes for him. Open up the card and write your sentiment inside of it.
A fourth idea is to take a piece of cardstock and cut it into the shape of an ornament. Glue this shape to the front of a card. Draw zigzag's and designs on the ornament. Add a ribbon to the front of the card. When you have finished open up the card and write or stamp your sentiment.
A fifth idea is to take a piece of wrapping paper and glue it to some cardstock. You can cut out the pictures that are in the wrapping paper. For example if there are snowmen or children playing, apply them to the card. Add some glitter and embellishments. When you have finished this add ribbon to the front of the cardstock. Now you can write your sentiment inside.
