Designing Rappers: Upcoming Clothing Lines in 2008 by T.I., Plies, Fabolous, Trina and Others
The Fashion Game
T.I.- Akoo: Akoo, better known as (A King of Oneself), is a clothing line sponsored by the "King of the South", T.I. The Grand Hustle Label entrepreneur plans to unleash his urban street apparel to the world around the end of 2008 or beginning of 2009. The fresh gear features shirts with the Akoo logo as well as pants with the logo on the rear pockets. T.I. and his business partner Jason Geter, pick out the designs first hand before they are put on the garments. Watch out for this blazing clothing line around the end of winter, it's sure to turn heads!
Lil' Kim- 24-7 Star: The Queen Bee herself has plans to drop her upcoming clothing line before the end of 2008. The full featured 24-7 line of the Brooklyn born MC is not to be confused with her Queen Bee Royalty watch collection. 24-7 is sure to be heavily inspired by the queen herself as there will be wild splashes of colors on shorts, shirts, pants and other accessories.
Jay-Z- S. Carter Clothing Collection: Although rap mogul Jay-Z has a previous clothing line, Rocawear, Jay-Z plans to shock the world and release another fashion line entitled "S. Carter Clothing Collection." The S. Carter collection might remind a lot of people of Reebok's shoe campaign by Jay-z known as "S. Carter Collection", however; it will have no direct association with the new fashion line. The line will feature a huge amount of business apparel for the everyday citizen. This includes button up shirts, slacks and multi texture sport coats and suits.
Fabolous- Rich Yung Society: Rich Yung Society is the new clothing line by rapper Fabolous. The clothing line name serves as a subliminal message as "a life many people inspire to live." Celebrities have already been seen wearing the Rich Yung Society clothing line throughout movies and videos. Although the clothing line is a mix between glamorous high fashion design and star studded street wear, it's very rare that you will find any of it in your local mall or urban clothing store. The pants and shirts prices of the Rich Yung Society have exceeded well past $300-600 a piece! Yes, you read it right, $300 just for a shirt! The name says it all; you have to pay the cost to be the boss!
Plies- Bust it Baby Clothing:"Flawda" rapper Plies is best known for his brash lyrics and content that he raps about. With hit songs Bust it Baby pt.1 and 2, he ready's his upcoming clothing line titled "Bust it Baby Clothing." The clothing line will only be for women as it specializes in tight fitting "booty jeans" and spandex. The spandex material will be highlighted through out the clothing line as it will be applied to pants, shirts, shorts, skirts and other accessories. Look for this highly anticipated line towards the beginning of 2009.
Trina- Pink Diamond Couture: Florida is defiantly heating up when it comes to creative fashion; rapper Trina will try her hand at fashion by releasing her "Pink Diamond Couture" clothing line in early 2009. While there are lots of samples on her clothing line on her site, most of the items are placed on backorder. Along with a long list of designer shirts, she plans to introduce her signature pair of jeans that feature her signature across the rear back pockets. Her styles are set to include leathers, python, crystals and additional rare fabrics. Also Trina is getting her Kimora Lee Simmons on by droppin' her "Diamond Princess" Fragrance. Young Buck- David Brown Clothing: Using his government name David Brown, Young Buck rolls the dice for his chance to be taken serious in the fashion game. The clothing line is strictly for the streets! Not only will it feature rugged textured pants and shoes, but it will also feature some of the best shirt and hat designs. The David Brown clothing line can already be found in a few stores such as Dr. Jays. Stay on the lookout for the fashion line by the Cashville spokesman!

Post a Commentawesome article and very detailed info fantastic job!!!!!!!!!!
Ok...I have comments. Akoo? Enough said. Lil Kim should have come out with a clothing line about 5 or more years ago. Why now? Jay-Z annoys me...but I can see people wanting to buy his suits (I guess). Bust It Baby Clothing - I think that's a clever name. I hope it works out for him. Young Buck and a clothing line - news to me - I think David Brown Clothing is kinda catchy for a name.
It's a shame that getting these businesses off of the ground can take so long. I remember you had to wait months and months before you could order Maino's Hi Hater T-shirts from his site...the song was popular but the timeline was too long for interested parties to wait. I thought he was crazy to make people wait so long...bootlegging a Hi-Hater T-shirt is easy as 1.2.3. I could make one today if I wanted. Don't know why I went off on this tangent.
Interesting article, thanks.
