Desire to Love
This Poem is Featured in My Book "Once Upon a Time it Rained, an Inspirational Book of Poetry About Life Love and Self Esteem."
The desire that burns inside
keeps me at a distance,
for fear that my hidden side might reveal what it knows of my soul's wounds.
Looking directly into your eyes compassion fills the air,
and that is when I know you care.
I am struggling to wonder why you're telling a different story
when confronted with the truth of your stares.
The eyes don't lie is an old wives' tale
proven to see into the soul and believe it or not I know.
Love has stopped the world around me.
Stuck in a battle for time I fight my thoughts trying to comprehend,
but all that seems to make sense is letting go.
The world works in mysterious ways
when it comes to the miracles of the heart.
I wipe my eyes and see all the lessons learned throughout my life.
So I step back hoping in time I will know what it all means to really
know what love is
or could be.
