The housewives of Wisteria Lane have moved from our television sets and onto our computers. "Desperate Housewives: The Game" is a lifestyle simulation PC game inspired by the hit television series. In the game the player takes on the role of a new housewife who has just moved to Wisteria Lane. The player controls everything from their appearance, personality, and whom they chose to befriend. Desperate Housewives the game goes through a series of twelve episodes. The player in return needs to unlock secrets of the other housewives and her own. The story evolves around the player who has just moved to Wisteria Lane with her husband and son. She is amnesiac and finally after twenty years gets to discover her past. Up until now she has believed everything her husband has told her. Along the way she will help the other residents of Wisteria Lane with tasks. The choices the player makes leads her to a path and a set of goals that she needs to complete. The interface of the game is pretty basic. Boxes pop up and by moving a mouse over them it will indicate what each one does. However, there are some downfalls. There is no option to run, angels are awkward at times, and slow loading times when moving from one house to another. I have found that it is just as easy to click on the map and walk to another house versus double clicking and being taken directly there. Socializing is a key element of the game. Every character has secrets and if you socialize with the other characters enough they will unlock their secrets to you. It is quite easy to build relationships with the other character by socializing with them often. Having strong relationships is beneficial throughout different times in the game. There are mini games that allow you to do some cooking, gardening, and poker night with the other housewives. If you're not up to cooking or gardening you can hire help for that. Cooking and gardening are based on levels. The better you become at it more recipes will become available and flowers for gardening. Poker night is also a way to learn some of the gossip going around Wisteria Lane. There are four needs that you will need to maintain throughout the game. Showering, primping, or changing clothes boost your appearance level. Socializing with neighbors will increase you social need. Composure and happiness are maintained by strong relationships with your neighbors, eating well, relaxing, watching television, playing poker, and seducing a neighbor. The characters of the game are very realistic to the girls on the show, especially when it comes to their appearance. The game is a nice surprise for those of us who enjoy soap opera's.
