Desperate Housewives Season 6 Finale Ends with a Boom

The season 6 finale of Desperate Housewives delivered an explosion, the customary neighbor farewell, and a baby.

Lynette discovered the dark hobby Eddie, the neighbor kid she'd taken in after meeting his intolerable mother, had been hiding: murder. Naturally, she only uncovered this dangerous secret after successfully landing herself in the clutches of the young man, whom she proceeded to convince herself was actually the victim in the crimes; apparently, a terrible upbringing excuses the senseless strangling of innocent women. Eddie sought redemption, but only after conveniently delivering Lynette's daughter-whom he endangered by refusing to allow Lynette to go to the ER after her water broke.

Susan and Mike, who continue to have marital problems- which I know surprises everyone so much - made the difficult decision to move out of Susan's house, renting it to an unknown tenant whom we discover at the end of the episode to be none-other than dastardly Paul Young.

To further complicate matters, the writers revealed some foreshadowing into the drama planned for season 7 by introducing a previously known nurse who may-or may not-have swapped the baby of a resident on Wisteria Lane who is "currently raising" a child who doesn't belong to them. Considering Susan and Mike's son MJ, and Gabi and Carlos' daughters, are the only children being "raised" at current, my guess is that-once again-Mike and Susan are in for a horrendous surprise.

Is anyone surprised?

Katherine, having overcome her feelings for Mike in the arms of the resident reformed stripper, Robin, disappeared from Wisteria Lane just in time to miss the season finale drama. Conveniently, this leaves the perfect opening for Katherine and/or Robin to duck out of their contract(s) before the chaos of the upcoming finale season.

Bree's long-lost step son, Sam, continues to be dastardly; he successfully blackmails Bree into signing over the rights to her company, in an attempt to prevent Andrew-who previously hit-and-ran Carlos' elderly mother-from going to prison. This doesn't sit well with Orson, who turned himself in after a hit-and-run incident with Mike, who didn't die. Finally, Bree decides to turn Andrew in, and faces the music with Gabi at the close of the episode.

Plots recycled, much?

Angie, Nick, and Danny-the token new neighbors for season 6-leave town at the end of the show. With Gabi's help, Angie manages to successfully deal with former-lover Patrick, by way of a cleverly planned bomb-in-detonator ploy. Considering that wraps-up all of their storylines on the show, the details are fairly irrelevant.

The death of Edie continues to leave a gaping hole in the cast, which desperately needs to be filled by another sharp-tongued minx who doesn't take crap off the other ladies. Apparently, Angie just didn't fit the bill, and Katherine is batting for the other team which eliminates the cat-fight potential considerably.

Season 7 of Desperate Housewives will have a lot of ground to cover if writers intend to tie-up all the plot-lines before the series finale.
