"Desperate Housewives" Set to Begin Final 8th Season on September 25

"Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry has decided to end the show after its eighth upcoming season. Stars on the show include Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, and Vanessa Williams.

Cherry says he broke the news to the cast on Sunday panel and called it "bittersweet and lovely." Cherry admitted he wanted the show to "go out while the network still saw us as a viable show, while we were still doing well in the ratings and we were still a force to be contended with."

Expect the season to go out with a bang! Jessica Hecht will replace Andrea Parker, as Tom Scavo's girlfriend, in the final season of "Desperate Housewives." We will see more about Lynette (Felicity Huffman) and Tom's marriage falling apart. Talks with ABC and Parker reportedly "fell apart" and she will go on to appear in USA's "Common Law."

Stay tuned for the new season of "Housewives" to begin on Sunday, September 25 at 9/8c on ABC.

Well, it had to happen eventually, but I'll be sad to see it go.
