Despite Bumps, Debut Podcast of Fantasy Face Off is a Success

It wasn't quite Kirk Gibson coming off the bench and hitting a pinch-hit home run in the World Series despite having two injured legs and a stomach virus, but I'd like to think my effort Thursday night was a little heroic, too.

Last night was the debut of Fantasy Face Off, my new podcast on Blog Talk Radio with Mike Podhorzer. Wednesday, I started feeling crummy and I hardly slept that night because my heart was hurting and I had the worst case of the chills I've ever had. I was ready to jump out of my body.

During the day on Thursday, I took my temperature with an ear thermometer and it registered 103 degrees in my left ear and 103.2 in my right ear. Now, it's been my experience with the kids that this thermometer runs high, in the 0.8-1.0 degree range. So that still means I was somewhere in the 102 range, which is really no fun.

But, the show must go on.

Then I got a call from Mike, who has participated in a few more of these podcasts than I have. His internet service was down and he was alerting me to the fact that I might have to run the switchboard. Fortunately, his service came back on about 10 minutes before we went on the air.

So, five minutes before air time, I call in to the show and I get a message saying that there are no scheduled broadcasts for our show in the next 24 hours and then it hung up on me. I tried calling several more times and when I finally did get on, there was 13 seconds before air time.

But despite all of those speed bumps, I thought our debut went fine. You can listen to an archived copy of the show at our page on Blog Talk Radio. Although be warned that I drop an F bomb at the very beginning as I finally get on the air and Mike asks me what's happening.

If you're a baseball fan, I'm sure you'll enjoy the show. And even if you don't you mind find it interesting to listen to just to hear what I sound like in real life. Any and all feedback on the show will be greatly appreciated.

I read this one before- the comment function must have been broken- but anyway, it's great to see all the stuff you're doing.

We're all rooting for a guy like Josh Hamilton no matter whether his numbers stay consistent or not. Great show Brian. Keep up the excellent work.
