Theresa L.
When taking a vacations, one of the first questions you should ask yourself is what time of year you plan to go. The second question you should ask yourself is if you prefer cold weather or hot weather. Arizona, the 48th state, is one of the few states that has a mild winter, making it a perfect get away during those cold winter months.

If mild winters, hot summers and desert climate is what you are looking for than Arizona should be at the top of your list to visit and while your there you should check out these sites.

1) Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is one of the most inspiring landscapes in the United States because of its immense size. The canyon is approximately 277 miles in length and a more than a mile deep.

The Grand Canyon is not the only thing worth looking at, or doing, while visiting the National Park. There is also hiking, river rafting, guided tours and even air tours.

2) Desert Botanical Gardens. The Desert Botanical Gardens showcases desert plants from all over the world. Some of flowers you will see may only open during the day or at night, while some are even rarer than most. Unless you visit the Desert Botanical Gardens, you can't say what you will see because new surprises await you every day.

Other attractions at the Desert Botanical Gardens include music, tours, dinner in the desert and festivals.

3) Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum has one mission. "To inspire people to live in harmony with the natural world by fostering love, appreciation, and understanding of the Sonoran Desert."

They do this by doing daily demonstrations that include a variety of different animals. Besides enchanting visitors with exhibits on animals, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum also intrigues and instructs guest with educational programs.

To some it up, The Arizona- Sonora Desert Museum is more than just a museum. Instead it is a zoo, a botanical garden, and a natural history museum!

4) Kitt Peak National Observatory. There is no place better than a desert to see the stars and Kitt Peak National Observatory gives its visitors a diverse collection.

The mountaintop site is share with the National Solar Observatory, guess can come here to observe the day and night time skies.

5) Oak Creek Canyon. Known as the Grand Canyon's smaller cousin, Oak Creek Canyon offers it visitors not just a view to remember but a chance to have fun while visiting.

Visitors can go swimming, hiking, and even do a little fishing while admiring the colorful rocks around them at this world famous canyon.

6) Bell Rock: Bell Rock is one of the most famous of all the red rock formations and for good reason. Describe as a "Hersey Kiss", Bell Rock is one of the first formations that visitors on Hwy 179 can get out and touch.

If you are really into scientific stuff, than Bell Rock is just the place to go since it is a one of Sedona's vortex Sites. If you are not familiar with a vortex, it is energy that is said to effect the human consciousness and, in some cases, the physical body.
