Guide to Dining in the Virgin Islands

William DuBose
While the beaches and shopping in the Virgin Islands may be the ultimate draw as a tourist destination, the dining is not to be forgotten. Lost in all of the mention of the other attractions are some pretty fine restaurants. Here, you will be able to enjoy the excellence of American dining mixed with the unique qualities that the Caribbean is able to bring into the mix. The restaurants on the island are an experience unto themselves, making for a perfect night of entertainment during your vacation.

Tavern on the Waterfront in St. Thomas has developed quite a reputation as being one of the top spots for tourists on the entire island. Specifically, people like to dine there because many of their favorite celebrities also choose to take in a meal at the restaurant. As its name would indicate, Tavern on the Waterfront offers a harbor view for those who are so inclined to enjoy that sort of thing. As far as food goes, they serve a mixture of French cuisine to go along with the Caribbean flavor that you would expect from such a place. The dishes are imaginative and the atmosphere is fun.

Asolare of St. John is very popular in its own right. It has been described as being one of the most beautiful and extravagant restaurants in the entire Virgin Island chain. It certainly sits as St. John's best option for dining. Hands down, this place attracts some of the most wealthy visitors to the island. The entire atmosphere is very hip, right down to the creative menu choices. The staff is attractive and they put on a little bit of a show. At Asolare, they not only expect you to have a good time, they demand it.

The Terrace of St. Croix is a gem on that island. It is contained by the Buccaneer, which is the most famous of St. Croix's resorts. The grilled lobster cakes are the primary food choice on the menu and the top draw for this restaurant is the top notch food. The chef uses only the finest ingredients on the island to prepare every meal, ensuring freshness and quality.

The restaurants on the Virgin Islands do not disappoint. After a long day relaxing on the beaches or taking in the shopping in the small local shops, you can kick back and enjoy a well cooked meal that is prepared for your taste. The entire dining experience also seems to be an entertainment venture, as the staff of each of these restaurants ensures that you have a great time.
