Destination Guide: Travel to Anguilla

Anguilla Offers a Little Bit of Something to Everyone

William DuBose
Anguilla is an island in the Caribbean that used to be one of the region's best kept secrets. Now, the cat is out of the bag, but Anguilla is still a great place to vacation. With its new found openness of tourists, many changes have occurred on the tiny island. What used to be a quaint village type town with a measure of seclusion is now an island bursting with culture and things to do. The changes have brought about some new and extremely well built extravagant hotels. The culture is changing in Anguilla, and they want you to come experience that they have to offer.

What the country has to offer is a sense of Caribbean with still a little bit of seclusion that you will not find in areas like St. Marten or Aruba. This nation features some of the world's finest resorts and some great culture to boot. It should be noted that the island of Anguilla is probably more suited for the young and chic traveler. Families can still enjoy their time on the island, but a young American couple would be much more likely to have a blast. The best attractions on the island of Anguilla usually coincide with the best hotels in the country. With the growing number of fancy hotels, prices have gone down, making possible travel to the country by a host of different folks.

Johnno's Beach Bar is one of the finest spots to enjoy yourself on the island. This is evidenced by the fact that many of Hollywood's up and coming socialites take in the scene there when they visit Anguilla, which happens often these days. There, you can enjoy draught beer, specifically Beck's, on the beach and the bar also cooks a great deal of food. People have become accustomed to the barbeque spare ribs that are a staple of the establishment.

The club RumZa is one of the best places to enjoy live entertainment. This has turned into one of the best places in Anguilla to enjoy the fun of the beach along with some great drinks and a true taste of Caribbean nightlife.

The country is also known for its gambling. It is not Las Vegas, but the city features a host of casinos that are ready to take your bet. Be careful though, as gambling regulation in such places is a little different than in the United States. This is a great option for those risk-takers who like to challenge themselves a little bit.

Anguilla is an island where the beach and the social scene collide. It is becoming a hotspot for rich, young Americans and the people there welcome those folks into their country with open arms. If you want to experience a different time, head to Anguilla for fun on the sand.
