Destination Guide: Travel to the Cayman Islands

The Islands Offer Some of the Best Tourism in All of the West Indies

William DuBose
The Cayman Islands offer a unique experience to travelers. There, you will not find the large number of bars and entertainment options that characterize most of the Caribbean. Instead, the Islands hold their majestic place in the tourism world because of the beauty of their terrain and the exciting things that there are to do outside and in the water. The Cayman Islands does not have the influx of young folks that you will see elsewhere either. It is a place that is much more appropriate for the aged traveler who is looking for a great time in a family-oriented atmosphere. If you love beautiful beaches and natural majesty without all the hustle and bustle, then the Cayman Islands are for you.

When you are in the Cayman Islands, there are a few things you must do in order to have a great time. Along with the beautiful beaches, there are some interesting creatures that we do not see here in the United States. Around Grand Cayman's North Sound lies the famed "Stingray City". Here, divers and snorkelers alike can swim with, experience, and even pet some of the world's finest stingrays. The stingrays are thirty to fifty in number and remain fairly docile. Steve Irwin might not agree, but that is a whole different story.

While Big Cayman might be the place to be for most travelers, its little brother is a much underrated spot as well. On Little Cayman, the beaches are untouched. The sand is white and the surf is calm. On Little Cayman, you can enjoy some of the world's best bonefishing to go along with the tradition of barbequing under the stars. The folks in Little Cayman are friendly, as they have not been hardened to tourists like their counterparts in Grand Cayman.

Speaking of fishing, it is the sport of choice all over the island. Here, you will find spectacular fishing for bonefish, blue marlin, wahoo, and even dolphin. The islands are world renowned for allowing visitors and locals alike to pull in some of the best fish in the world.

The Cayman Islands are a very underrated vacation destination. American travelers are just starting to realize that majesty exists in places other than Nassau. If you love to fish, there is no better place. If you like water sports and the beach, then you will enjoy your time in the Cayman Islands. The people are friendly and they refuse to let you leave without having a good time.
