Destination Guide: Travel to the Dominican Republic

One of the Most Underrated Travel Spots in the World

William DuBose
The Dominican Republic is a place that has a certain stigma among travelers in the modern era. On one hand, the country offers beautiful white sand beaches couples with some of the most wonderful waters in all of the Caribbean. Travelers rave of the beautiful sights and scenes in the Dominican Republic. Its popularity has grown in leaps and bounds over the past few years. Why then, with so many great places to be, would this nation not be the most popular place to visit in the world? Well, the answer is very clear. It features some of the rockiest politics in the entire Caribbean and that scares many people away. Until the country gets its act together in the political arena, it will never be as popular as it probably should be.

In the Dominican Republic, you will find some of the friendliest folks of all of the islands. Less commercialized than its brother island of Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic retains some of the majestic innocence that some islands lack. One major concern for tourists, especially of the American variety, is that the level of crime in the country is still very high. Organized crime rings are into theft and mugging. Most of the crimes occur in the capital city of Santo Domingo. American tourists should remember some common sense rules in order to stay safe.

The Casa de Campo is the Dominican Republic's best hotel. Located on its own beach in the city of La Romana. The Casa de Campo features all of the amenities that travelers have come to expect. Among the great things that this resort offers are eight restaurants and eight bars. They also have a number of indoor pools, thirteen tennis courts, and three 18-hole golf courses. The Dominican Republic has many fine resorts and hotels, but this one is the top of the heap.

In the Dominican Republic, the outdoors are important, as well. Great water sports are held in the beautiful clear waters and the animals are all around. If you enjoy looking at great animals such as dolphins and whales, then the country will suit your taste.

The Dominican Republic has great nightlife, as well. The clubs have a very young feel and the country is very welcoming to tourists. If you enjoy the best of beach, outdoors, and entertainment, then the Dominican Republic is the place to be for all seasons.
