Destination Guide: Travel to Pawley's Island

South Carolina beaches have long been noted as some of the best in the world. While Myrtle Beach may take all the headlines and Charleston is growing in popularity, as well, the small beach of Pawley's Island is a great travel destination. Pawley's provides all of the best of the Grand Strand and Myrtle Beach without the hustle and bustle associated with the major tourist destinations. There, you will find a great beach, some wonderful restaurants, and excellent shopping, as well.

Pawley's Island is known as the residential beach of South Carolina's upper coast, but it is a great place to vacation, as well. Like most South Carolina beaches, the one at Pawley's island is the place to be. On your vacation, be sure to head to any number of public access spots and camp out on the beach. Bring your chairs and bring a couple of towels. During the summer, the water is warm enough to swim in. The beaches in Pawley's Island are extremely clean, as well.

On Pawley's Island, you are never too far away from Myrtle Beach. While it is far enough away to offer some refuge from the hustle and bustle, it is close enough that you can drive to see the best locations in Myrtle. The drive is only about thirty minutes if the traffic is not bad. Conversely, the town itself has much to do. There are upwards of twenty restaurants that specialize in seafood. The catch is both local and brought in from afar. The prices are good, as well.

Pawley's Island is somewhat of a sleepy beach. There, families come to live to be at the beach, but far away from tourists. Because of this, there are no huge high-rise condo complexes. Instead, elect to rent a beach house or stay at one of the small inns. The beach houses will run 1200-2000 dollars per week during the peak season, but it will add much to your vacation.

If you have an extra minute, take in the shopping in Pawley's Island. Specifically, it is world renowned for the hammocks that it sells. There are many different hammock shops that specialize in only the finest products.

Pawley's Island is the best of South Carolina rolled into one great town. It is a perfect travel destination for a family or for the young tourists looking to have a good time. The locals are friendly and the attractions are lively.
