Traveling to the upstate of South Carolina does not sound like the most interesting thing in the world. At first look, you may wonder why anyone would want to come to the upstate of South Carolina for vacation. Well, if you take a closer look at some of the better things to do, you will see that the upstate of South Carolina is actually a great place to kick back and relax with family and friends. There are rolling hills, some small mountains, and some of the most beautiful lakes in the entire world. In the upstate of South Carolina, a vacation is much more than meets the eye.

You do not come here for the ridiculous nightlife or Las Vegas style shows. Head to the Caribbean if that is what you are looking for. In the upstate of South Carolina, it is all about the nature. The most popular place to vacation and spend your time is on Lake Hartwell, a popular place to boat, fish, swim, and ski. It is a huge lake, covering pieces of two counties in South Carolina. It is, however, located mainly in the city of Clemson, which houses a major university. On Hartwell, there are some very nice hotels in which you can stay. Rent a boat and take the family out on the water for an awesome day.

In addition to Lake Hartwell, there are other lakes such as Lake Keowee and Lake Jocasse. Jocasse is the most beautiful lake in the region, sporting clear fresh water. This water is strange in that most lakes in South Carolina do not have the clear water. Keowee is a much more family-oriented lake than the other two. Here, you will find picnic areas that are appropriate for families and people of all ages.

There are some excellent golf courses in the area, as well. If hitting the links with the sticks is your thing, then you have come to the right place. In the upstate of South Carolina, the golf courses stretch all the way from Spartanburg to the Georgia border. In Clemson, The Walker Golf Course is the best thing going. The greens fees are affordable, at right around 60 dollars. You will get a good value as this course is in fabulous shape during the summer and the winter months.

The upstate of South Carolina is a lot more fun than people think. If you love nature and things that go on outdoors, then this is the place for you. Do not hesitate to bring the family because there is something to do for just about everyone.
