Destination Guide: Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad is a Great Travel Spot

William DuBose
Trinidad and Tobago is a nation comprised of two tiny islands and is located just off the coast of Venezuela. While this nation used to be only frequented by traveling business men, it has now turned into a booming tourist destination that is very welcoming of tourists. The island of Trinidad is almost certain the place to be as Tobago is a pretty sleepy little island with very little to do. In Trinidad, however, they have transformed the tourism industry into a big money maker. Huge resorts are popping up just about everywhere you can look across the island. In addition, a renovated airport on the island, which is about the size of Delaware, has made this place much more attractive and accessible for visitors.

Since Tobago really lacks any luster as a tourist destination, we will stick to Trinidad. This island is where the limbo was born and they love to party. The people of the island seem to always be smiling and the beach is never far away. The beaches of Trinidad are one of the top reasons why people continue to go back there. They have almost twenty white sand beaches with waters warm enough and calm enough for swimming and whole heap of water sports. Since the island is so small, travelers never find themselves more than a short ride away from any number of excellent breach fronts.

One of the reasons Trinidad has grown in popularity is because the people here are both friendly and sophisticated. They are intelligent and they are looking for you to have a great time. Their culture, unlike many of the nations in the Caribbean, is completely their own. To put it simply, they have developed these customs over the course of time and do not want to lose them. Because of this, the cultural aspect is always on display. Whether it is in their food choices or in their music, the people of Trinidad are never shy to remind you where you are.

Tourists will find that the best time that can be had in Trinidad is one where you fully immerse yourself in the cultures of the island. Go to a local music show where the folks play the steel drum that they invented. Go to a local restaurant and sample the food. Stay in a small inn where the people will make you feel at home. Although tourists have made it a popular choice in recent years, you will not feel swallowed up by this beautiful island and if you stay in the right place, it will feel like you are the only traveler there.
