Destination Guide:Travel To Jamaica

Come Play with the Rastas in Jamaica

William DuBose
You have seen it in the movies and on the small screen. Some of its legends are made popular in modern American music. When most American travelers head to Jamaica, they have a good idea what they are about to get into. The island holds much more than a cut rate bobsled team and rastafari, though. When you visit Jamaica, you will find a country full of history and culture. Like most of the Caribbean, it has many wonderful beach spots for the sun-soaked tourist, but the other things you will find in Jamaica make it what it really is.

Beyond the sand white beaches or even the lush greenery that are characteristic of this beautiful Caribbean island, travelers must be aware of some of the more dire circumstances with which they will have to deal. To put it mildly, Jamaica is not in the best of shape socially. In Jamaica, you will find more than enough poverty, crime, and racial unrest to go around. Remnants of some of the country's harder times are everywhere to behold and you really can not have a vacation on the island without running into it. The political atmosphere in Jamaica is shaky and the subsequent political upheavals are evidence of that. Regardless of these negatives, the island of Jamaica has more than enough positives to keep tourists coming back year after year.

The island succeeds in being a great spot for tourists because it offers the best of just about everything. It is a popular spot for couples to get married because the resorts are some of the world's nicest. The golf courses are tops in the West Indies and the scuba diving is slowly but surely becoming something with which tourists find favor. Montego Bay is obviously well known to travelers who make their way to the island and it should be. There, folks will find a long stretch of beautiful white sand and some clear waters with which to play. Treasure Beach and Seven Mile Beach are also a couple of the best bets if you want to take in fun and sun.

The White Witch of Rose Hall golf course is one of the island's newest attractions. Tourists have taken to it because it has a sense of novelty and the amenities are extremely modern. Located on Montego Bay, it is also convenient to folks who are enjoying time with their families. The course sits on over 200 acres of beautiful Jamaican land and is popular because of the lush greenery.

In Jamaica, you can have a good time doing just about anything. Whether you love the beach or the golf course, you will enjoy your stay on the island. Be careful and enjoy yourself on one of the Caribbean's most beautiful places.
