Destination Wedding

Is it a Good Idea for Us?

Thinking about a destination wedding are you? Maybe you just like to travel. Or it is the allure of some exotic location with the adventure that comes with it. There are some advantages to getting far, far away for your wedding. Here are some of them for you to consider.

One, is that you will likely have to deal with fewer guests. It's great to have a lot of guests I suppose. But really how many people can you really talk to for any significant amount of time at a wedding? Not as many can fly away to Aruba as can drive across town to your wedding. And if that's the way you like it, then perfect. You can be a little picky in who you invite and the cost may be no more for a much smaller wedding hundreds of miles away than a very large wedding at home.

Another advantage is that it's neutral ground. If there are in-law issues and power struggles between certain members of the family, this kind of setting levels the playing field so to speak. And maybe people are having so much fun that those petty issues fade into the background.

And finally, maybe you can talk your favorite photographer in giving you a super great deal if you are throwing in a trip to the Caribbean. What they do is hard work and getting way is just what they feel like they need. It always looks good on their website too to show that they are invited to do weddings in exciting places.

So far it sounds great, right? But you're smart enough to know that there is some work to do in preparing for a destination wedding. You've got to make the travel arrangements, check on laws and procedures for weddings especially if in another country), and make sure you take all the documents and paperwork that you will need.

One final bit of advice from a couple who did a destination wedding. You might want to have a separate hotel for after the wedding. Because after all, do you really want your family spending your honeymoon with you?
