She Must Be
So she stepped up
So she laughed
So she looked deeply
And she nearly lost it all.
She was destined to the be the friend
In every instance
In every adversity
In pain & suffering
And it set out to destroy her.
She was destined to be The friend
At all times
At any cost
At every turn
And she learned not to cry.
She was destined to be the friend
Without question
Without argument
Without letting it out
And she never knew such hurt.
She was destined to be the friend
She'd almost lost it
She'd almost missed out
She'd almost let it pass
And having not-she crumbled.
She was destined to be the friend
Oh, she was lucky!
Oh, she was blessed!
Oh, she was courageous!
And she really truly cared.
She was destined to be the friend
If she'd known
If she'd realized
If she'd been warned
And there is no greater love.
She was destined to be the friend
Love is kind
Love bears all things
Love never fails
And it shows no mercy.
She is destined to stay the friend
Battle scarred
Bruised & beaten
Blindly following
And ever knowing hidden truths.
She was destined & will be the friend
For all time
For the long run
For the friendship
And she knows no greater on earth.
And she shall take it to her grave.
